1988 Biography[]
Richie Pitts was born in Brooklyn, New York, but has spent a large part of his professional life touring around Britain and Europe.
In London's West End he has performed in The Pirates of Penzance, Jesus Christ Superstar and the London production of Starlight Express. He has also played the part of Robins in Porgy and Bess at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and played Hakim Jamal in Jean Seberg at the National Theatre in London.
His film credits include Yanks and he has appeared in many television productions in Great Britain. Over the years Richie has worked in such varied countries as Bulgaria, Portugal and South Africa in both musicals and cabaret. He was a member of the pop groups The Velours and The Fantastics which had such hits as "Can I Come Over Tonight" and "Something Old, Something New". Richie also does musical arranging and orchestrating and in his spare time he is an athletics coach.
